Ndutu is an area in the West of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Each new year starts off with the calving season of up to 800.000 wilderbeest and zebra, part of the annual migration. From February till March, this is prime position to be near the millions of animals making up the Great Migration.
Several companies offer mobile tented camps through-out the Ndutu area, moving along with the masses. Below, you’ll find a small selection.

Ndutu Safari Lodge
Ndutu Safari Lodge is situated in the South-eastern part of the Serengeti ecosystem. The Lodge is surrounded by indigenous trees and shrubs which encourage a host of birds and mammals to come right to your front door. Tucked well away from the busy tourist circuit, Ndutu offers peace and tranquillity far from the madding crowd.
Ndutu Safari Lodge consists of 34 stone cottages that extend from the central, open-sided bar, lounge and dining room. Each room has it’s own verandah that overlooks Lake Ndutu. All rooms have en-suite facilities. The cottages are made from local materials and offer comfortable, tasteful accommodation. Ten rooms have a double bed, and there are five triple rooms.
There is one family room, which can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children. All other rooms have 2 single beds. All the rooms are single storey and are accessible with a wheel chair. The setting is simple and uncomplicated, as they write themselves: “Don’t expect five stars. From our campfire, you’ll see millions!”
